How We Review Prop Firms

Last updated: July 11, 2026

Every ranking, comparison, and review on PropFirmLion follows the same process below. This page exists so you can check our work — not just take our word for it.

1. Who Writes Our Reviews

Our reviews are written by a small, named editorial team with direct experience researching and testing funded-trading programs — not anonymous contributors or AI-generated copy with no accountability. Every article credits its author, and author bios listing their background are linked at the bottom of each post.

2. What We Evaluate

01

Evaluation Rules

Challenge structure, profit targets, drawdown limits, time limits, and how strictly they're enforced in practice.

02

Payout Reliability

Stated payout speed and split versus what traders actually report receiving, including delays or disputes.

03

Pricing & Fees

Challenge cost, reset fees, hidden charges, and whether refund/rebate terms are honored.

04

Platform & Tools

Supported platforms (MT4/5, cTrader, NinjaTrader, etc.), execution quality, and available risk tools.

05

Reputation Signals

Trustpilot and community feedback (Reddit, Discord, forums), complaint patterns, and how the firm responds to them.

06

Company Standing

How long the firm has operated, business registration where publicly available, and any past rule-change controversies.

3. Our Process

  1. Research. We read the firm's own terms, FAQs, and rules directly from their site — not just marketing pages.
  2. Cross-check. We compare stated terms against trader reports on independent forums and review sites to catch gaps between policy and practice.
  3. Draft & fact-check. A named author writes the review; claims about rules, pricing, or payouts are checked against source material before publishing.
  4. Publish with disclosure. If we have an affiliate relationship with the firm, that's disclosed on the article per our Disclaimer.
  5. Revisit. Reviews are revisited when a firm changes its rules, pricing, or payout policy, or when we receive credible reports that our information is out of date.

4. Independence From Advertisers

PropFirmLion earns revenue through affiliate links, advertising, and sponsored content — this is disclosed on relevant pages and in our Disclaimer. A commercial relationship with a firm does not buy a better rating: if a firm's rules, payout behavior, or reputation change for the worse, our review reflects that even if we have an affiliate or advertising relationship with them.

5. Corrections

Prop firm terms change quickly, and we don't always catch every update the moment it happens. If you spot outdated information, a rule we've mischaracterized, or a factual error, tell us and we'll investigate and correct it promptly. We don't remove reviews simply because a firm requests it — corrections are made for accuracy, not preference.

6. What This Page Is Not

This methodology explains how we form editorial opinions and comparisons. It is not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and it does not guarantee any trader's outcome with any firm. See our full Disclaimer for details.
